Dr. Glovsky's Professional Training
As a nutrition coach working with clients in the Boston area as well as around the
country, I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders and weight
management, as well as nutrition for the prevention of illness. I am
a member of the teaching faculty of Northeastern University.
A Registered Dietitian, my undergraduate degree in Nutrition
and Dietetics is from Simmons College in Boston, MA. I completed a dietetic
internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, have a Masters Degree in Nutrition
Education from Boston University, and a PhD in Behavioral Health and Nutrition,
also from Boston University.
I have
extensive experience as a clinical nutrition specialist in eating disorders and
weight management, both in my private practice and at Boston University and
Boston Medical Center. I have conducted research in public health nutrition,
clinical trials for the development of new drugs, and web-based nutrition interventions.
I am trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI) for health
behavior change and conduct workshops and consultations to a variety of
organizations on Motivational Interviewing, and I am a member of the
Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), a professional
group of MI practitioners. MI is a counseling style designed to help
the client develop his or her own intrinsic motivation for change. MI is
effective in addressing the health behavior changes associated with the
treatment of diabetes, heart disease, obesity, eating disorders, renal disease,
HIV, addictive disorders, and other illnesses with strong lifestyle
components. For more information on MI and available training, go to our training website at www.miinstitute.com.
I am an experienced presenter, trainer, and teacher. I have taught at the
Boston University School of Public Health and conducted trainings for a wide
variety of institutions, companies, and other organizations in New England and
around the country. I am especially interested in helping clients make changes in their
attitudes and behavior regarding food by examining the barriers that keep them
from caring for their bodies, minds, and spirits. The goal of this work is to
make peace with food.
I am trained as a group leader for Feeding Ourselves, Inc.,
in Arlington, MA, and currently serve in that capacity. Additionally, I have advanced
training in alcoholism and substance abuse treatment from the Boston University
Institute on Alcoholism Policy and Training.
